information like point-of-sale transaction data, responses to direct mail
campaigns, and coupon redemption numbers, was incredibly limited compared to
the data available today. With big data, marketing has experienced tremendous
innovation. But simply having and processing big data doesn’t automatically
lead to better marketing.

Data Cleansing To Aid Planning Policy Framework
Almost exactly a year following its unveiling in last year’s
budget by Chancellor George Osborne, Britain’s National Planning Policy
Framework (NPPF) become law on Wednesday March 27th, 2014.
Amongst other requirements, the new rules mandate that councils must set
housing targets on a 5-year rolling basis that will identify potential
developable land within their respective jurisdictions.
While on the face of it, “planning” for such an important
aspect of our economy and our environment might be considered a good thing, the
Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) believes the country is not in a
position to execute on those plans. According to CPRE estimates, only 11 of the
34 Midlands unitary, county and metropolitan districts are in a position to
have their plans in place by the deadline. A vast majority (23 of them) aren’t
yet in a position to submit their plans to the government.
